RoLanka offers anionic polyacrylamide polymer (PAM) in a partially-hydrogenated block form. PAM block can help reduce the sediment load in storm water runoff. Care should be taken when using these polymers for sediment control. Natural fiber filters, which hold polymer particles, should be used to remove any excess polymer levels in runoff before the water enters a lake or stream. Otherwise, too much of the polymer in aquatic systems can cause adverse long-term effects that may carry through the food chain.
RoLanka PAM-Block™is a soil and water chemistry tailored polyacrylamide (PAM) semi-hydrated gel-fiber block. It is specially designed to control the release of PAM in runoff water. Traditional flocculent blocks used to control sediment commonly experience uncontrolled release of PAM. This can increase the concentration of PAM in water bodies, harming living organisms. The coconut fiber (coir) matrix in RoLanka PAM-Block™ controls the release of PAM into water. As a result, RoLanka PAM-BlockTM lasts longer in the field than traditional flocculent blocks under similar field conditions. More importantly, it controls sediment without releasing high concentrations of PAM into the flow of water. Higher rates of PAM can be released into the water by removing loose coir fibers from the outer surface of the PAM-Block™, if necessary.
